LIMERICK’s official Instagram account was raking in all the likes at the National Social Media Awards, also known as the Sockies.

Managed by the marketing and communications team at Limerick City and County Council, the official Limerick Instagram page took home the gold award in the Instagram State Body category at the awards, which are open to businesses, government organisations, and NGOs.

A showcase of Limerick’s Trad Trail, a ‘Bites on a Budget’ reel aimed at Limerick students, and a celebration of Limerick Pride were among the posts that helped the official Limerick Instagram account scoop the top prize.

Head of Marketing and Communications at Limerick City and County Council, Donn O’Sullivan, said that “we are visual storytellers, and Instagram provides the perfect canvas to celebrate and promote our city and county”.

“With each post, we seize the opportunity to further connect with the community. Our goal is to showcase the real Limerick. A Limerick that evokes powerful and positive emotions. I want to extend congratulations and appreciation to our skilled marketing team whose dedication and creativity bring this vision to life daily,” Mr O’Sullivan said.

As well as taking home the gold award, Limerick City and County Council’s ‘Limerick on Foot’ campaign took the silver award for the Best Behaviour Change Campaign category.

Meanwhile, Limerick also secured the bronze award for Limerick Student City campaign in the Best Multi-Platform Campaign (In-House).
