Local election candidate calls for council to reinstate Street Ambassadors programme

LOCAL Election candidate for City West, Michael MacCurtain (FG), is calling on Limerick City and County Council to reinstate the popular Street Ambassadors programme this summer.

The initiative, which has been well-received since its inception nearly 20 years ago, aims to enhance tourism, security, and economic development in the city.

“The Street Ambassadors, dressed in Munster red, served as roving guides, offering a friendly first impression to visitors.

“They provided advice on the best places to visit, eat, and shop, and distributed a weekly events guide detailing what’s happening in Limerick city and county,” MacCurtain explained.
