GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 30s was killed in a one-car incident early this Saturday morning (June 1).
According to a statement by An Garda Síochána, the fatal incident happened around 4am this Saturday morning on the N18 at Portdrine, County Clare.
Emergency services were alerted to an incident in which the man in his 30s, who was walking at the time, was hit by an oncoming car. He was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where he later passed away.
It is understood that the driver of the car was not injured.
Gardaí have said that the road is still closed this early afternoon to “facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place”.
“The local coroner has been notified, and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination.”
In the wake of the fatal road incident, Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
