THEY were walking the walk at the Laurel Hill Schools Fashion Gala, where more than 500 family and friends came to see the young fashionistas strut their stuff.
Supporters of the Laurel Hill Secondary School and Laurel Hill Coláiste attended a pre-show art exhibition and music recital provided and performed by the schools art and music students.
On arrival, guests were treated to a prosecco reception and goodie bags. Pop up shops run by the school’s transition year ‘mini companies’, who provided a shopping experience for all to enjoy.
The show kicked off with a door prize draw sponsored by Keane’s Jewellers and a presentation made to students whose artwork featured on this year’s event booklet cover, poster, and ticket.
Celia Holman Lee compered the event, assisted by Paudi Walshe and Asta Lee.
The annual school fashion show showcased clothes from top Limerick fashion houses Ber McNamara, Brown Thomas, Earls and Pearls, Ivory Lane, Lady Penelope, Marlene and Co, Marion Murphy Cooney, and Sinéad’s Boutique.
The Zip Yard also showcased their clothing alterations and garment restyling service.
The roof was raised as 38 fifth year students modelled debs dresses from Be Fabulous, Danis Closet, and Glowing Girlies, along with sportswear from So Hockey.
Student hair and make-up was provided by Catherine Hickey (a former student of Laurel Hill Secondary School), Curlz Hair Salon, and Make Up Artist Sarah Jane Blake.
The students were also joined by seven brave male teachers who owned the catwalk in clothes from Sextons Menswear and glasses by Hartman’s Opticians.
The Laurel Hill Schools Fashion Gala is running over 40 years and is one of Munster’s largest fashion show events. The funds raised are used for the benefit of present and future generations of Laurel Hill Secondary School and Laurel Hill Coláiste students.
