TY Journal, created by transition year student Finn Neville, who attends St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Spanish Point, secured the Best Commercial Potential Award at the recent Student Enterprise Clare County Finals.
The TY Journal has been designed as part of the school’s enterprise program, and has garnered significant attention and praise for its unique approach to documenting the TY experience. It offers creative prompts, reflective pages, and a structured format for students to record their journey through this pivotal year.
After winning the award, St. Joseph’s school, TY Coordinator, Tracy Murray stated;
“We’re absolutely thrilled to congratulate Finn on his achievement of winning the Best Commercial Potential Award. His project, inspired by his own experiences during Transition Year, presents a simple and innovative offering with potential for significant impact. The TY journal is a great resource to help students navigate their future career choices and will be a valued support to our Transition Year students.”
St. Joseph’s secondary School will be adopting the journal for their TY students, with TY Coordinator adding:
“Recognising the journal as a valuable platform for students to document their journey, reflect on their experiences, and develop essential life skills, we plan to maximise the journal’s effectiveness, by providing students with the time and space for reflection, in a structured environment. We hope this initiative will also serve as a bridge between junior and senior cycles, aligning with the transition year’s evolution nationally.”
The TY Journal is available nationwide for students, parents or secondary schools interested in purchasing a copy online https://www.buythebook.ie/product/ty-journal/
