GARDAÍ in Limerick arrested a driver this morning (Wednesday May 15) who they suspected was driving under the influence of drugs.
Local Gardaí made the arrest after they stopped a black BMW and conducted a roadside drug test.
The test came back positive for cocaine and Benzoylecgonine, Gardaí said.
Following the roadside test, the driver was arrested so that a blood sample could be taken and the results analysed.
Limerick Gardaí posted about the arrest on their new Facebook page, set up to keep people informed about policing activities and initiatives in the Limerick Garda Division.
In a post on the new page, Gardaí said that the driver’s sample has been sent “to the Medical Bureau of Road Safety for analysis”.
“Pending the outcome of this, it will determine what offences may follow for this driver,” the social media post concluded.
