MIC student takes top prize in Psychology Society Student Congress

Final Year B Ed in Education and Psychology student at Mary Immaculate College, Sarah Ryan-Purcell.

A MARY Immaculate College (MIC) student took home one of just six prizes from the Psychology Society of Ireland All Ireland Student Congress.

Fourth year MIC student Sarah Ryan-Purcell, from Blackrock in Cork, was highly commended at the all-island annual congress in the Oral Presentation category of the undergraduate competition, describing the win as “the cherry on top” after getting the opportunity to present her work at the prestigious congress.

Her work focused on finding a potential link between perfectionism and academic procrastination, finding that perfectionists often delay tasks because they may be daunted by trying to do them perfectly.
