Rethink Ireland celebrate over €7million investment in Limerick social innovation

RETHINK Ireland has celebrated an investment of over €7million in social innovation in Limerick since 2016.

At a recent board meeting, Rethink marked the positive impact of non-profit organisations in the county and renewed its call for philanthropists to ‘give where they live’ by supporting non-profits in their area.

During the gathering, the Rethink board visited non-profits in Limerick who have received funding under  four investment areas of education, health, green transition, and social enterprise.

Since 2016, Rethink Ireland has awarded funding to 65 organisations across Limerick.

Organisations visited included: Narrative4, who were awarded almost €300,000; Corpus Christi Family Centre, Moyross, who received over €1.1million in funding; and the Bedford Row Family Centre, who received over €93,000 in funding.

John Fitzgerald, Rethink Ireland board director, said he was “delighted that we are hosting this year’s board meeting in my native County Limerick, marking the innovative non-profit organisations that we back at Rethink Ireland. Our remit is to accelerate positive social change by backing social innovation.”

“Localised philanthropy is something that we resolutely back at Rethink Ireland as part of our unique venture philanthropy model because we know that it is important for people to see their donation in action and its benefits to society.

“At our annual gathering, we get to put the spotlight on progress made in our hosting county of Limerick,” Mr Fitzgerald said.
