To coincide with the official drive in of this year’s Rathbane Golf Club captains, Fintan Costello and Colette McGrath, a competition was held the proceeds of which were kindly donated by both captains and the members to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
A very successful raffle was also held on the day by ex-president of the club, John Gorey, the uncle of Amy Foley whose untimely death last October, while abroad, saw her body being repatriated to Limerick by the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
Colin Bell, representing the Trust, was on hand to receive a cheque for €1,200 and was quick to thank all who supported the event, especially club captains Fintan and Colette and Colm McCarthy of Rathbane Golf Course.
Elsewhere, Andrew McCormack (Castletroy GC) finished as a commendable runner-up, alongside Kevin LeBlanc of The Island GC, to Jack Murphy of Douglas GC, in the Lee Valley Scratch Cup.
McCormack posted rounds of 71, 73, and 71 to finish on level par.
