INDEPENDENT candidate for June 7th mayoral election John Moran launched his campaign in the Longcourt Hotel, Newcastle West, to both an in-person and online gathering turning out for the former Finance Department secretary general.
Mr. Moran, with family roots in Athea and Templeglantine, reminisced about summers on his uncle’s farm in Athea and weekends in the river Room disco. He joined musicians from Athea and Limerick City to play on stage.
But there was a serious side to the night too. Endorsed on stage by a number of supporters, Mr. Moran recalled the significant billion euro budget and hundreds of staff whose priorities the new mayor will set during the five year term.
He urged voters to select a candidate with the passion to make Limerick much better, an ambitious vision for the future and the track and skills to deliver quickly.
If someone says Limerick is not ready, he urged supporters to ask “WHY NOT FOR LIMERICK?”
