€20m Centre of Excellence to be a bastion of inclusion

At the competition launch were Cian Lynch, Lauren Ryan, John Kiely, Nadine White, Declan Hannon, Caoimhe Costello, and Paul Maher.

AN AMBITIOUS target of 2027 has been set for full integration of the GAA, Camogie Association, and Ladies Gaelic Football Association, and, with this in mind, Limerick’s proposed new all-inclusive €20m Centre of Excellence facility.

To be located at Crecora, the centre – spread over almost 40 hectares – will consist of 10 full-size pitches (including two all-weather), gymnasium, and Munster’s first indoor dome venue.

At the launch of the ‘Win A Home in Adare’ competition – of which all proceeds will go towards the establishment of the centre – Club Limerick chairperson Seán Scanlon commented said that “we are not standing still” on the ambitious development project.

“We have an ambitious plan for the establishment of a new centre of excellence for all Gaelic Games.

“The need to grow our games, continuously innovate, and optimise processes is at the core of Limerick GAA’s strategic plan.”

Limerick senior hurling manager John Kiely added that “with projects like this, it sends out the right message to all the young girls and participants in camogie and ladies Gaelic football across county Limerick that we are 100 per cent going to drive forward with this integration project and, when the time comes, the facilities will be there for them”.

The first prize in the fundraising competition is a €360,000 two-bedroom apartment at Fisherman’s Wharf on Station Road in 2027 Ryder Cup venue Adare.

Organisers aim to sell upwards on 20,000 tickets.

The draw, which will be broadcast live on Facebook and adjudicated by Grant Thornton Chartered Accountants, is listed to take place at Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel in Adare on August 5.

According to organisers, “members and their spouses and partners of the Lottery Committee appointed to organise and oversee the Lottery and Limerick GAA/Club Limerick Executive Committee are expressly precluded from purchasing a Lottery ticket.”

Tickets (priced at €100) are on sale from winahomeinadare.com.
