Katherine Hunka leads the Irish Chamber Orchestra in a colourful programme where our composers wear the hearts of their homelands on their sleeve.

The ICO are thrilled to host Tine Thing Helseth, hailed as one of the greatest trumpeters of her generation from Norway, for a spectacular performance at the University Concert Hall on Thursday May 9.

Under Katherine’s direction, the ICO takes audiences on a musical journey across the Irish Sea with Elgar’s Introduction & Allegro, a reflection of a Welsh holiday with its captivating and intricately woven melody. Audiences can enjoy the elegance, potency, and sheer beauty of the ICO’s interpretation.

Tine Thing Helseth will mesmerise listeners with Neruda’s masterful Trumpet Concerto, showcasing virtuosic brilliance. From the Czech Republic to her native Norway, Helseth shares the magnificence of her homeland through Grieg’s charming snapshot songs, deeply cherished and joyfully performed.

Tine Thing Helseth has championed the trumpet repertoire amongst audiences on all six continents, earning high praise for her soulful, lyrical sound and collaborative approach to music-making. An artist who challenges the boundaries of genre with an intensely creative, open-minded philosophy, Tine’s ever-expanding repertoire ranges from the classical period to contemporary works and new commissions.
