FINE Gael councillor John Sheahan has called on the council to realign the bridge at the entrance to Costello Aluminium in Glin due to the high volume of accidents that occur there.
He was informed at this month’s Newcastle West area meeting that the local authority was awarded €800k through the bridge rehabilitation scheme for the maintenance of bridges throughout the county.
“It will not be possible to realign this bridge based on the current budget and needs.
“An alternative that may be considered would be to put a traffic management plan on both approaches to the bridge,” said senior executive engineer John Sheehan.
