HOUSING commencements in Limerick have seen a significant increase in the first two months of 2024, compared with the same period last year.
Figures from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage show that commencement rates were up 83 per cent in the first two months of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023.
In the first two months of this year, 132 homes in Limerick commenced construction, compared to 72 units during the same period last year.
Nationally, there were 7,056 new homes commenced, a new record high, and up 72 per cent on the same period in 2023.
According to the Department of Housing, the increases in commencements show that a “robust stock of new housing is in the pipeline.”
