THE TECHNOLOGICAL University of the Shannon (TUS) celebrated all things pride this past week, with their annual TUS Pride Week.
The week long event aimed to celebrate diversity and inclusion and culminated in the unveiling of pride themed areas on the university’s Moylish campus.
TUS Pride Week began with the pride flag being raised over all six campuses in Moylish, Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD), Athlone, Thurles, Clonmel and Ennis, with a range of activities to support the LGBTQ+ community.
Thursday marked the unveiling of the LGBTQ+ rose seating area on the TUS Moylish campus, with Chairperson of Limerick Pride Lisa Daly, and TUS VP for People, Culture
and EDI Marian Duggan, in attendance.
“I am excited to stand alongside LGBTQ+ students and staff as we celebrate Pride Week. Events like these are crucial for promoting understanding and acceptance, and we are proud to be part of such an important initiative,” said Ms Daly.
“The introduction of the new Pride areas symbolises our steadfast
dedication to nurturing a supportive and inclusive environment for all members of our community,” added Ms Duggan.
Throughout the week, TUS students and staff enjoyed a diverse range of events such as movie screenings, coming-out information sessions, and ally-ship workshops led by TUS Student Union.
