A LARGE UK retailer is set to occupy a prime outlet in Limerick City centre.
Retail chain The Works is set to take over the former Select and CompuB outlet on O’Connell Street, which has been vacant for more than two years.
The Works sells a range of books, toys, stationery items, craft materials and gifts, and will occupy the unit next to O’Mahony’s Bookshop on O’Connell Street,
The company already have a number of outlets in Ireland, with two in Cork, one in Gorey, one in Kilkenny, one in Killarney, one in Athlone, and multiple branches over the border in Northern Ireland.
In total, The Works have 526 outlets across the UK and Ireland.
They have already started recruitment for their Limerick store, with an online job posting inviting applications for store managers, sales assistants and keyholder positions.
No date has yet been set for The Works to open their Limerick store, but a search of the council’s planning database shows that a planning application has been granted by Limerick City and County Council in recent weeks to add new fire safety equipment.
