LABOUR councillor Elena Secas has asked the council for an update on the acquisitions of a site for a public graveyard in Castletroy, given that such a site was to be purchased by June 2023.
Director of Services Vincent Murray revealed that the council identified a number of sites for a new burial ground to serve the Castletroy area and has completed a desktop exercise in relation to same.
“Each of the sites require site investigation to determine ground conditions and general suitability of the site for a burial ground.
This process is underway and a preferred site will be identified in due course,” Mr Murray said.
