FIANNA Fáil councillor Joe Pond asked at this month’s Metropolitan area meeting for an update and timescale for the proposed upgrade and expansion of the children’s playground in Castleconnell village.
He was informed by Director of Services Vincent Murray that an extension of the playground may be warranted if funding can be provided given the proposed increase in houses in the village.
“All possible sources of funding for these works will be examined and the engineer responsible has commenced looking at options and costs,” Mr Murray told council members.
“We will bring a report back to the City East elected members when it is finalised with a view to including these works in the 2025 Capital Programme if approved,” he added.
