MIGHTY Garryowen surprised Cork Constitution with a richly deserved 22-7 win in the final of the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup at Thomond Park.
Cian Hurley nipped in for the opening try on 25 minutes, which Kelvin Langan converted. The latter landed a penalty soon after and Garryowen retired 10-nil ahead.
Through a John Forde try and Rob Hedderman converstion, Con closed the gap early in the new-half.
Thereafter, the Light Blues were in control and further five-pointers arrived from Nicky Greene and captain Brian Fitzgerald, one of which was converted by Langan.
Garryowen’s Jack Daly was the perfect choice as man-of-the-match.
