THE dates for the upcoming local and European elections have been confirmed.
Last week, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar confirmed that the Irish people will hit the ballot boxes once again this year on June 7 to vote for their representatives at a local and EU level.
The people of Limerick will also be asked to vote on the country’s first ever directly elected mayor.
The Taoiseach did not confirm when the next general election is to take place, saying that it will be “no time soon anyway”.
Irish voters on June 7 will also face another referendum, this time to ratify Ireland’s participation in the EU Unified Patent Court, which would be a de facto ‘one stop shop’ for patent litigation across Europe.
