INDEPENDENT Ireland TD Richard O’Donoghue this week called out a ‘tsunami of spin’ in relation to last week’s twin referendums, and expressed words of thanks to those who turned out to vote against the proposed constitutional changes.
Deputy O’Donoghue, who said he was the sole public representative in County Limerick to seek a No/No vote from the local electorate, welcomed the landslide result locally.
“I want to thank all other groups and independent politicians who stood up against a tsunami of establishment spin in order to advocate for what the people of Ireland really want,” the Limerick TD and Independent Ireland co-founder said.
The County Limerick politician said that he recognises that the people of Ireland have grown “weary” of the traditional parties and their “failure” to address pressing concerns. Now, he believes, is the time to rally together and forge a team capable of delivering real change for the country.
“Let us seize this momentous result as an opportunity to usher in a new era of politics – one that prioritises the needs of the people above all else. The people have spoken, and they have had enough. Let’s show them what politics should be all about.”
