Limerick Chamber CEO resigns role to pursue mayoral campaign

Former Limerick Chamber chief executive Dee Ryan.

THE CHIEF Executive of Limerick Chamber has announced this week that she has resigned from her role.

Dee Ryan, the recently-announced Fianna Fáil candidate for Limerick’s first ever directly elected Mayor’s position, has announced that she is wrapping up in her role as CEO of the Chamber after six years.

Recently appointed Chamber President Noel Gavin said that during her six years at the helm, Ms Ryan steered Limerick Chamber through some of its most challenging times.

In her tenure as CEO, Dee Ryan steered the Chamber during the tumultuous Covid period, when the business community was plunged into grave uncertainty overnight, as well as across a range of key policy issues of critical importance to the membership and the region,” Mr Gavin said, wishing the outgoing CEO well on her future endeavours.

Dee Ryan said that she has been “privileged” to hold the post of CEO of Limerick Chamber and wished her successor well on their appointment.

“Limerick Chamber plays a pivotal and essential role in advancing the economy of this city, county, and region. I’ve been fortunate in my time as CEO to work with and be inspired by many brilliant people, from my own team to successive boards and presidents of Limerick Chamber and other business leaders,” Ms Ryan said.

Ms Ryan was formally introduced as Fianna Fáil’s candidate for the mayoral election by Tánaiste Michael Martin at Harvey’s Quay in Limerick City on Monday afternoon (March 11), joined by Fianna Fáil TD Willie O’Dea and Minister of State Niall Collins.

Limerick Chamber will now begin the process to appoint Ms Ryan’s replacement and wished all candidates in Limerick’s historic mayoral campaign well.
