THREE University of Limerick (UL) students were honoured with prestigious awards from Regeneron Ireland.

Chemical and biochemical engineering student Kate Storan, from Dooradoyle, along with industrial biochemistry students Eva McMahon, from Ardnacrusha, County Clare, and Anna Feenan, Carrigaline, County Cork, were presented with awards honouring their exceptional research projects in the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths).

The three UL students were competing for the awards in the quality control, manufacturing, or engineering space, after being tasked by Regeneron to complete a research project as outlines by the company.

Eva, Kate, and Anna were selected as winners and will receive a bursary to aid in the rest of their studies, as well as a paid internship at Regeneron, where they are currently on work placement, and the guidance of a Regeneron employee mentor to help navigate the early stages of their careers.

Niall O’Leary, senior vice president and site lead at Regeneron’s Raheen facility, said that the company “has a longstanding symbiotic relationship with UL and these awards represent our commitment to nurturing talent and helping develop leaders of the future”.
