A ‘WORLD first’ kind of gym has arrived in Limerick in Matchbox Life, a fully automated circuit-based gym that takes away any uncertainty for its users.
At Matchbox Life, customers can scan in and follow the circuit set out for them by the workout machines, which keep track of their progress.
Owen Tarrant, who co-owns Matchbox Life, along with Jack and Oliver Moloney, told the Limerick Post that the idea for the gym came about through his interest in innovation and looked at worldwide trends in the fitness industry.
The concept hopes to reduce the prevalence of ‘gym-timidation’, he said, and the anxiety that can come with starting in a gym.
“Even the most experienced person they can go in and there’s a few new machines, ‘I don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing on them, I don’t have a programme, I’m not sure what I should be following’, it takes all of that out of your hands,” Mr Tarrant said.
Matchbox Life has two newly opened gyms in Corbally and the Jetland Shopping Centre, as well as sister gym Matchbox Fitness on the Ballysimon Road.
Matchbox Life has flexible memberships, with the overall aim of getting people moving and active.
Matchbox Life is open seven days in the Jetland Shopping Centre and Westbury Shopping Centre, Corbally.
