IN THE wake of much of the country already being blanketed in snow, Met Éireann has issued two separate low temperature warnings for Limerick, heralding in the possibility of snow in the Treaty on the first day of meteorological spring.
The first is a status yellow snow-ice warning which affects all of Munster, along with Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wexford, and Wicklow until 6pm this evening (Friday, March 1).
Forecasters say that a band of rain will continue to move southwards, turning to sleet and snow in places.
Possible implications are icy stretches on untreated roads, poor visibility and hazardous travelling conditions.
The second weather warning is a status yellow ice warning which affects the whole country and remains in place until 9am tomorrow morning (Saturday).
Weather conditions will remain cold overnight, with ice on untreated surfaces, leading to hazardous driving conditions.
