LIMERICK’S Torch Players return to Belltable with the Irish play By the Bog of Cats.

Set in a bleak landscape in the Irish midlands this play by contemporary Irish playwright Marina Carr, follows Hester Swane, a traveller, as she embarks on a journey of vengeance to lay claim to what is hers.

This is a dark psychological drama and a hilarious dark comedy.

Hester doesn’t belong with the rest of the characters and her story is characterised by super-natural elements such as ghosts, curses and prophecies. It is a story of greed and betrayal, ethnic prejudices and profound self-sacrifice. A captivating story and portrayal of strong Irish female characters.
