A SUPERMARKET in the suburbs of Limerick City has signalled its intention to expand its busy shopping centre store.
Tesco Ireland is intending to expand its store in the Crescent Shopping Centre in Dooradoyle, if planning permission is granted by Limerick City and County Council.
In a public notice, the supermarket chain stated that it wishes to apply for the change of use of a neighbouring vacant retail unit from a crèche or childcare use to retail, including the sale of alcohol.
Plans would see the unit, directly attached to the current Tesco store, integrated into the store’s operations.
Tesco Ireland currently occupies unit 43 in the centre, and will expand into units 41 and 42 if planning permission is granted.
The new space will be used, the chain says, to relocate its existing alcohol sales area.
The works would also see “minor internal and external alterations”, which would include a new fire escape stairs, doors and roller shutters, and demolition of internal walls.
