THE LIMERICK accent has been voted Ireland’s least favourite, according to a recent nationwide survey.
The all-island survey, conducted by Alt Index and commissioned by language app Duolingo, found that the Limerick brogue was voted the favourite accent of just three per cent of people surveyed.
The Dublin accent topped the table as Ireland’s favourite accent, with 35 per cent of people crowning it as their favourite.
The Donegal accent took the second spot, with 28 per cent of voters a fan of the north western lilt, while Cork came in third place with 21 per cent voting it their favoured accent of choice.
Limerick and Westmeath proved to be at the bottom of the polls with three and six per cent respectively.
