LIMERICK City and County Council, along with developers DC Manor, is calling on aspiring homeowners to apply to the Woodfield Manor affordable housing scheme, as a number of new homes come on stream.
21 new homes in the Newcastle West development will soon be available for private purchase under the Affordable Home Purchase Scheme, with prices for a three bedroom mid-terrace house starting at €250,000, the council has said.
A three-bedroom end-of-terrace house will set prospective buyers back €255,000, while a three-bedroom semi-detached house will go for €260,000.
The affordable home purchase scheme is generally aimed at first-time buyers and fresh start applicants, and helps people on moderate incomes to buy new homes at reduced prices, according to the local authority.
Through the scheme, Limerick City and County Council will take a percentage equity share in the ownership of the homes in the development.
Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Cllr Gerald Mitchell, welcomed the launch of the affordable housing scheme at Woodfield Manor, saying: “The launch of Phase 2 of this development will provide additional much needed affordable homes in Newcastle West for first time buyers and fresh start applicants who are ready to start their journey to owning their own home.”
The council’s director of housing, Caroline Curley, added: “The 21 homes in Phase 2 of this scheme offer eligible buyers an opportunity to secure their own newly-built home at a price lower than its open market value. This scheme is one of a number of affordable home purchase schemes in the pipeline for delivery by the Council across the city and county.”
Information on the scheme can be gotten from Limerick City and County Council’s website, with applications opening from February 19 at 12pm.
