LIMERICK went down to Antrim in the opening round of the National Football League at Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale.
Jimmy Lee’s much changed side from last season were 1-7 to 0-4 in arrears in the interval but quick goals from captain Iain Corbett (penalty) and Tommy Childs put the contest very much in the melting pot.
The visitors, however, kicked for home thereafter and emerged 2-14 to 2-7 winners.
Limerick are away to Down next Saturday.
In the Ladies National League, Limerick preserved their unbeaten run with a 1-9 to 0-1 defeat of poor Kilkenny at Quaid Park, Coolyroe.
The only goal of hour came from Karen O’Leary, while Caoimhe McGrath was superb in a contribution of seven points.
