THE Regeneron Great Limerick Run is set to return in 2024, bigger and better than ever, according to organisers of Limerick’s biggest community run.

A record number of participants are anticipated to register for this year’s event, which takes place during the May Bank Holiday Weekend. The event, hailed as the largest mass participation event outside of Dublin, was officially launched this week by Mayor Gerald Mitchell.

Speaking at the launch at the Limerick Strand Hotel, Mayor Gerald Mitchell noted the huge economic impact the Regeneron Great Limerick Run has for Limerick.

The Regeneron Great Limerick Run transcends the traditional notion of a race, it is a social occasion drawing massive crowds to Limerick, showcasing the city’s different kind of energy and injecting a €5million economic boost during the May Bank Holiday Riverfest weekend,” Mayor Mitchell said.

Niall O’Leary, senior vice president at Regeneron Ireland, added: “The Regeneron Great Limerick Run, the fastest growing participatory event in Ireland with over 14,000 race entrants, has become a highlight on the annual racing calendar.

“As a company deeply committed to supporting and celebrating sport, we are delighted to be the title sponsors of this event for the fourth consecutive year. The Regeneron Great Limerick Run serves as a platform to unite competitive athletes and those who participate for fun, fostering a deep sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship.”
