THE government has confirmed a pay increase of 10.25 per cent for all civil and public sector workers over the next two and a half years.
The full increase will be brought in on a staggered basis, with a first 2.25 per cent increase being introduced this month for all 385,000 workers.
According to Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohoe, those on lowest incomes will see the greatest benefit, receiving “up to 17.3 per cent over the lifetime of this agreement, inclusive of the Local Bargaining provision”.
The full cost of the deal will add up to €3.6billion. Further pay increases for workers will come in June and October 2024, March and August 2025, and February and June 2026, as well as a Local Bargaining instalment in September 2025.
