Limerick charity soccer tournament raises over €5,000

The Thumbs Up for Benny fundraising soccer tournament will return on St Stephen's Day.

THIS year’s donation of €5,200 in the ‘Thumbs Up for Benny McNamara’ soccer tournament will top last year’s, as organisers of the annual sporting day out say they have raised over €23,000 for local charities since 2018.

This year’s tournament took place at South Liberties grounds over the Christmas period.

Six teams took part, including Polonia Luimní, Macattack Caherdavin, Four Elms, The Hiway, Team Cushty Moyross, and Team Mungret.

Macattack Caherdavin took home the cup with team Cushty Moyross placing as runners up.

James Cunnane was named player of the tournament.

The organisers thanked sponsors Westward Ho Bar, South Liberties GAA, Ishke Water Ballyneety, Revival Rooms Raheen, and MikeTreacy of Raheen.
