Man to appear in court in connection with fatal hit and run in Castletroy

The late Joe Drennan was killed in the fatal hit and run on October 13 last year.

A MAN is due to appear before the courts in Limerick this morning in connection with the fatal road traffic collision that caused the death of a University of Limerick (UL) student last October.

UL journalism student Joe Drennan was killed in a hit and run while he waited at the bus stop on the Dublin Road in Castletroy on October 13 last.

A man in his late teens is to appear before Limerick District Court this morning (Tuesday), charged in relation with the fatal road traffic collision that caused the death of Mr Drennan.

The 21 year old, an award-winning journalism student from the University of Limerick, died after he was struck by a car while standing at the bus stop on the Dublin Road on October 13 last.

The news comes as calls were made this week by local Fianna Fáil councillor Joe Pond to have a memorial placed at the Dublin Road bus stop where the talented young student lost his life.
