Man to appear before courts this morning in connection with shooting in Limerick City

A MAN is due to appear before the courts this morning (Monday) charged in connection with a shooting that took place in the Ballinacurra Weston area on Saturday (January 13) afternoon.

Gardaí confirmed that a man in his 40s has been charged and will appear before a sitting of Limerick District Court this morning.

This comes in the wake of a man in his 30s being rushed to hospital after being shot at around 4pm on Saturday evening.

He was rushed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick after he was reported to have been shot twice in the back outside a house on Crecora Avenue, on the south side of Limerick City.

On Saturday, a Garda spokesman said that “Gardaí in Roxboro Road are investigating following a firearms incident in the Ballincurra Weston area of Limerick City”.

“A man, aged in his 30s, was seriously injured during the course of this incident and has been taken to University Hospital Limerick.

“A man, aged in his 40s, has been arrested and detained under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act, 1939.”
