Shane Lowry has described as “amazing” the festive donation by the McManus family of €1million to each GAA County Board in Ireland.
“It’s amazing,” the golf ace told IrishGolfDesk.com. “I’m a huge fan of JP. He’s been great to us golfers over the years and he’s been great to the GAA and sport in general. Horse racing is big because of JP.
“He puts a lot of money into Ireland, and he keeps a lot of things afloat. And him doing that with the GAA counties was something that he doesn’t need to do. So it’s very generous of him.
Lowry, a financial backer of GAA teams in his home county Offaly, concluded: “JP is one of the most generous people you meet. Anyone in the golfing circles I know will tell you that as well, and I think it’s amazing what he’s done.”
Two-time Ryder Cup performer Lowry participated in the JP McManus Pro-Am 2022 at Adare Manor Resort, an event that raised €140million for Mid West charities.
