THE SOUTH of the county is to get a housing boost following the granting of planning permission for a new development.
Loquatlane Limited has applied to council planners to construct a 28-unit housing development at Glenfield in Kilmallock.
The development will consist of 12 semi-detached houses, with 16 terraced units and all associated site works.
Limerick City and County Council planners granted permission for the development, subject to 25 conditions.
Among the conditions imposed by planners are that the development be constructed on a phased basis, that each house is equipped with ducting for future electric vehicle charging, and that adequate play space is provided as part of the development.
Like many planning applications for developments before Limerick City and County Council in recent months, Loquatlane’s planning application was met with objections from locals.
Issues about the water pressure for existing residents of the area, concerns about the volume of traffic and the density of properties on the site were some of the concerns raised in submissions to council planners.
The planning application was first submitted to the council in December 2022, but at the time was deemed invalid by planners.
