A LIMERICK advanced laser technology company has been acquired by a global leader in precision engineering.

Limerick Lasers has been taken over by Takumi Precision Engineering, both companies announced earlier this month.

Limerick Lasers was established in 1996 and specialise in laser engraved metal and acrylic nameplates and tags for use in the food, chemical, medical, pharmaceutical, and electrical engineering industries.

The move marks a significant milestone for Takumi as it continues to strengthen its position in the high-tech manufacturing industry.

Donal Galligan, CEO of Takumi, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Limerick Lasers into the Takumi family. The acquisition is a testament to our commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements in precision engineering and expanding our offering to our customers.”

“The combination of our manufacturing capabilities with Limerick Lasers expertise positions us as a comprehensive solutions provider for industries demanding the highest standards of precision and innovation.

“We extend our appreciation to Noel and Kathleen Phelan. We are confident that the foundation they have built will continue to thrive under the Takumi umbrella, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours,” Mr Galligan concluded.

The takeover will see Limerick Lasers relocate from their current base in the Eastlink Business Park to Takumi’s premises in the Raheen Business Park, where all manufacturing will now take place.
