SANTA and his reindeer won’t be the only ones taking flight this Christmas, as Shannon Airport is expecting its busiest festive season in 14 years.
According to Shannon Airport Group (SAG), more than 121,000 travellers are expected to pass through the airport over the holiday period, a surge of 18 per cent on the same period last year.
Such a figure would mark the largest numbers seen in the airport since Christmas 2009.
“Witnessing passengers return home to loved ones or embark on journeys to reunite with family abroad is truly heartening,” SAG CEO Mary Considine said.
“Our team is on hand to welcome all those travelling through the airport while ensuring that Shannon Airport provides an easy and enjoyable experience this festive season.”
