Limerick man conferred with honorary doctorate from University of Galway

West Limerick man Neil Johnson was conferred with an honorary doctorate of Laws from the University of Galway.

WEST Limerick native Neil Johnson received the highest award possible from the University of Galway for his contribution to the fight against heart disease and stroke.

Mr Johnson, from Reens, Ardagh, was conferred with an honorary Doctorate of Laws in recognition of his exceptional leadership of the heart and stroke charity Croí since his appointment as its first CEO in 1993.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Martin O’Donnell, dean of the College of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences at University of Galway, said Mr Johnson was being awarded with the honorary doctorate for excellence in leadership, innovation, and unwavering commitment to advancing cardiovascular health.
