Following a sellout Wolfe Tones show last year, Gaelic Sounds will return to Limerick on Friday August 30 with a stellar lineup celebrating the best in Irish folk music and ballads in the home of Limerick GAA!
On the bill is George Murphy & Rising Sons, All Folk’d Up, The Highstool Prophets, Fieldsy & Guest and headline act The Whistlin Donkeys!
This year’s headliner The Whistlin Donkeys return to Limerick for first time in five years with their unique blend of trad and celtic rock. This Tyrone sextet have had a stellar rise from their hometown pub sessions to selling out Vicar Street and the RDS earlier this year, while managing to squeeze in back to back sold out tours of the USA and Australia. Expect to hear hits like ‘Bee’s Wing, ‘South Australia’ and of course ‘Hills of Donegal.
Joining them at the Ennis road venue is one of the most exciting voices in Irish folk music, George Murphy & The Rising Sons. Fresh from a sold-out tour of the USA and Ireland, they will bring their perfect blend of Trad, Folk and Rock ‘n’ Roll to the stage, blending whistles, fiddles and banjos with electric guitars, bass and percussion. Music fans can will enjoy a mix of the band’s original material as well as their unique and fresh stamp on old folk classics.
All Folk’d Up have earned acclaim as one of the standout new wave bands on the Irish folk circuit. Their unique ability to re-imagine old Irish folk and traditional songs, infusing them with a modern and up-tempo twist, has endeared them to fans.
