A LIMERICK farmer has been nominated for a top farming award, thanks to a product he created.
Nick Cotter is in the running in the FBD Better Farming Awards, nominated in the AHV Innovator Farmer of the Year for the ‘Cotter Crate’.
The Cotter Crate allows an animal to walk in, making for easy dosing, vaccinating, or tagging by farmers.
Mr Cotter’s SmartWorm software is being used by over 100 farmers in Ireland and the UK, having been validated in trials with University College Dublin and Queens University Belfast.
The FBD Better Farming Awards award the highest levels of achievement made in the industry’s move towards a more sustainable sector.
The awards reward initiatives, research, and practices that are helping Irish agriculture meet its economic, social, and environmental challenges.
The inaugural Better Farming Awards will be celebrated on November 30.
