A LIMERICK home carer has been named Comfort Keepers Carer of the Year 2023.
Sinead Hartridge, a native of the city, officially received the prestigious accolade at a special ceremony last week at The Clayton Hotel in Limerick City attended by family, friends, and her Comfort Keepers colleagues.
Comfort Keepers, employs over 200 people at its Limerick branch office.
Following the judges’ ‘incredibly difficult’ selection based on set criteria, Sinead was one of 12 finalists for the coveted award from around the country.
Sinead (52) is a wife and mother of three and has been a carer with Comfort Keepers for a decade. Her inspiration to become a carer came from her family; she loved spending time with her grandparents as a child and learned so much from them.
Then after an uncle passed in 2012, she decided to take the Care of the Elderly FETAC Level 5 and Introduction to Nursing Level 5, and afterward applied to Comfort Keepers.
Sinead said:”I am so grateful for this recognition because it is such a privilege to care for my clients and to be welcomed into both their homes and lives. I love every time I meet a new client and getting to know them beyond their care plan; their likes and dislikes, skills, and interests. I love that I get to nurture them and enrich their lives and in return they trust me and are comfortable with me.
“Sadly, none of us can predict the future but my goal is to continue working as a carer to make a positive difference to the lives of my clients and their families.”
