SINN Féin TD Maurice Quinlivan has called on the Government to introduce a Living Wage, as committed to in the Programme for Government.
Deputy Quinlivan said that the hourly Living Wage should be €14.80.
“Ensuring a living wage is crucial for the well-being of our citizens and the overall health of our economy.”
“Low-paid workers are the backbone of our society, performing essential roles in various sectors. These workers deserve to earn a wage that enables them to meet their basic needs and live with dignity,” he said.
“To put this in context, at least 671,000 people live in poverty, many of whom are at work,” the Deputy concluded.
