GARDAÍ are appealing to anyone who keeps their bank card in the back of their phone case to be extra vigilant.
This comes after a man in his 70s was approached by a woman on the street in Caherconlish asking if she could use his phone.
The man agreed and the woman made a phone call and handed back his phone.
The following day, when he went looking for his bank card, which he kept in the phone’s case, he could not find it.
A call to his bank confirmed that it had been stolen and used three times by the person who took it.
