GARDAÍ have issued a public appeal for assistance following a serious assault on a man in Limerick City in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).
According to An Garda Síochána, members of the force along with emergency services units were alerted of the violent attack, which took place on the Hyde Road, shortly after 3.10am this morning.
A man in his late 30s was treated by emergency services at the scene on the Hyde Road, before being taken to University Hospital Limerick for further treatment. It is understood that he is currently in a stable condition.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed that no arrests have yet been made in connection with the attack, adding that a technical examination of the scene has already been carried out.
The spokesperson added that “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward and are particularly interested in speaking to individuals who were present in the Hyde Road area at the time of the incident.”
They have also appealed to those with video or dashcam footage from the area at the time to make themselves known.
