THE Crescent Shopping Centre kicked off its 50th anniversary celebrations in style this past Saturday, with Limerick’s own Muireann O’Connell and Celia Holman Lee joining Irish fashion icon host Vogue Williams for a catwalk spectacular.
The event, which kicked off the Crescent 50 Series celebration, saw not one but two sittings in which the threesome of fashionistas discussed all things fashion, while no less then six different showcases saw Celia’s models put their best foot forward in looks all curated from shops at the centre.
Here’s the key take aways from the fashion-forward frenzy, with top tips from the trio.
Work wear
Accessorising with long coats looks to be the way to go for work style this winter. Nearly all of the looks on the catwalk featured a stunning coat as a focal point of the outfit. From plain grey and black belted coats to a stunning Femme grey check piece – which Vogue Williams herself admitted she had her eye on – it was clear to see a good coat is a must this season.
A good heeled boot, for those taking notes, is also an investment worth making for your work wardrobe.
Airport fits
Dressing for the airport can be difficult, you want to be comfortable for your flight while also looking good heading away on hols. The good news here is that no matter what you’re comfortable in, you can make it work.
Co-ords are a great option for airport wear, both comfy and stylish while on the go – as a stunning neutral set from Parfois demonstrated. Paired with a chunky runner for extra comfort and you’re set for the catwalk and the runway.
Jeans and trouser styled with a fashionable jacket were also highlighted as a stylish yet practical airport option.
Athleisure
Workout clothes as fashion statements have been huge in recent years, with Celia Holman Lee describing it as “an explosion of everything fashion can be.”
Irish brand Gym + Coffee received huge praise from the trio during this segment of the show for combing fashion with function. A striking purple zip up and hat from the brand, paired with some purple Sketchers runners, was a prime example of looking fashionable even if you’re out for a run or heading to the gym.
Party season
Start dreaming of a sparkly Christmas! In the final segment of the show, the crowd was wowed by a stunning silver sequined dress from Tesco. Paired with a fur coat, it was a breathtaking look that won’t break the bank. Another favourite was a sequined River Island waistcoat paired with a shimmery black suit.
Whether you want to go all out with a sparkly dress or keep it subtle with a pop of shimmer and sparkle, you’ll be on trend this Christmas.
The trio also dubbed red the colour of the year, which is great news leading up to Christmas.
