GARDAÍ mounted a planned search and raid operation against groups involved in an organised crime in Limerick City this evening (Tuesday).
The intelligence-led operation involved raids of areas and properties in the Southill and Ballinacurra Weston area of the Treaty City.
The operation is “ongoing”, Gardaí said.
Gardaí mounted the raids in a planned crackdown on individuals involved in feuding and drugs.
It is understood a number of motorbikes and scramblers were among items seized during the evening raids.
A feud on the city’s south side led to a number of shootings at homes and a pipe-bomb exploding at two properties earlier this year.
While a Garda spokeswoman remained tight-lipped about the specific details of this evening’s searches, she replied: “I can confirm a number of searches took place today, Tuesday 24th October 2023, in relation to organised criminal activity in the Limerick area.”
“Investigations are ongoing, and no further information is available at this time, due to operational reasons,” she added.
