LIGHTS, camera, action – it’s time for a new chance for future stars to learn the nuts and bolts of putting a story on the silver screen.
Now in its fourth year, Future Film Makers invites young people with an interest in exploring the world of film making, to sign up for an introductory film training course over the October Midterm.
The course is under the auspices of the Local Creative Youth Partnership (LCYP) and funded by the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board.
Following a very successful collaboration last year, the Local Creative Youth Partnership is once again teaming up with Red Paw Media and Southill Hub to bring hands-on experience in camera technique, sound production, performance, make-up, editing and more.
Having delivered training and placements in film sets in 2019, 2021 and 2022, this year’s young trainees will experience a combination of workshop-based training sessions as well as working on an actual film shoot. Training sessions will be led by respected film maker and actor, Maeve McGrath with camera expert Dominik Kosicki of Red Paw Media leading the film and editing days. Sound creation will be led by Dominick Chapell at the Learning Hub studio in Kileely with the week being rounded off with a a cinema visit and critique of a contemporary film to be chosen by the young people.
