Doon Social Farm is a 33-acre organic farm based in the beautiful scenic environment of Doon, Co. Limerick. Social Farming provides people with the opportunity to improve health and well-being by taking part in day-to-day farm activities.
On our farm we grow organic vegetables, salads, and fruits on a large scale in two polytunnels and a field overlooking the spectacular Galtee mountains. We care for a large flock of free-range hens, that provide us with delicious organic eggs.
Our Organic Growing for Work and Life (Horticulture) course is now in its fourth year. On completion of the course, participants will have a QQI Level 4 qualification. This programme gives participants an opportunity to learn how to grow delicious, nutritious vegetables and fruit on our farm.
Our course will guide you through all the knowledge and practical skills you need to be able to sow, plant, maintain and care for plants, at home in your own garden or as a commercial enterprise. The course takes place on the farm so you can immerse yourself in the natural environment, practice and apply skills as you learn.. If you would like more information or find out how to register for this exciting programme please contact Maura (Course Leader) on 087 2474843 / 061 380808 or alternatively, email [email protected].
